The Team were commissioned by H.R.H Prince Saud Al Saud to produce a masterplan, landscape design and architectural proposals for a 30 hectare members club and resort in the Wadi Hanifah, to the west of Riyadh. The scheme aims to deliver 300 holiday and weekend serviced units along with a central club, spa and restaurant/business centre facility. Given its location in the Wadi System, the scheme is presented as a green oasis with a rich and high quality landscape. A 9-hole golf course, gardens and play/family swimming pool facilities are discreetly organised in close proximity with the chalets and townhouses that make up the ‘village’ element of the scheme. A key consideration for the design team was to anticipate and protect the scheme from potential flash floods that intermittently occur in the wadi system. This was achieved by strengthening the boundary wall to restrict potential floodwater to the main wadi channel.
